Frequently asked questions

You are not allowed to park for long periods in busy areas (blue zones) in Den Burg and De Koog. There is a maximum parking time. You do not have to pay to park in these areas. However, you will need a parking disc. This indicates the time of your arrival.

Parking time in Den Burg between 08:00-20:00 hours

  • Car park of Albert Heijn: 1 hour
  • Car park Jumbo/Vogelenzang: 2 hours
  • Parkstraat and the first 4 parking spaces of the Burgwal: up to 30 minutes
  • Other streets in the city centre where it is indicated on site by a traffic sign: maximum 1 hour. You can see these car parks on the map of paid car parks.

Maximum parking time in De Koog from 08:00 to 20:00

  • Car park Lidl: 1 hour
  • De Brink and Parnassiastraat: 1 hour

You can buy the Texel vignette online by license plate, at the Town Hall or at a parking meter. The overview map shows where the parking meters are located.

You can also pay by the hour via the parking meter or a parking app.

Parking attendants check by scanning the license plates of parked cars. They can see if you have a valid Texel vignette.

Is your Texel vignette expired and would you like to renew it? Then purchase a new Texel vignette.

With a parking app, you pay by the hour. Do you park for longer or more often? You can also buy a Texelvignet for a day, a week or a year. There are several parking apps you can use. Check your parking app to see if you can use it to pay on Texel.

Zone code

Select the correct zone code in the parking app. In the center of Den Burg, the zone code is 29511. Are you parking elsewhere? Then choose the zone code you see on the sign above the parking meter.

  1. You can buy the Texelvignet online or at a parking meter.
  2. Enter your licence plate number and choose a ticket.
  3. You can pay online via iDEAL, Sofort, PayPal, Mastercard or Visa. At a parking meter, you can also pay with your cash card or credit card.
  4. Are you paying online? You will receive an email with your receipt and your digital parking rights. If you pay at a parking meter, you will receive a receipt.

Send an email to gemeentewinkel@texel.nl. Include your registration number and the e-mail address you used to make your purchase. We will then check whether you have a Texelvignet. And whether it is still valid. You can also call us on 0031 222 – 362121.

You cannot check this online.

It is possible to change the license plate number on your Texelvignet for €13.70 (in 2025). Use the form for changing the registration number (in Dutch). You must enclose the indemnity certificate and the new registration certificate (ascription). If you have a lease car, you must enclose the return receipt and the new registration certificate.

No. You cannot transfer the parking right in these cases. Only if you buy a new car can you transfer the parking right to your new car. To do this, use the form for changing the registration number (in Dutch). You must enclose the exemption certificate and the new registration certificate (ascription). This will cost you €13.70 in 2025.

Yes. If you park any of these vehicles in a parking space or on a parking terrain where paid parking applies, you will also need a Texelvignet.

No, you do not need a Texelvignet if you have a European Disabled Parking Permit.

The validity of your Texelvignet is 365 days from the start date you select. A day ticket is good for 24 hours from the start date and time you select. A week ticket is good for 8 days.

Yes, if you charge your electric car at a public charging station in a parking lot where paid parking applies, you will need a valid parking ticket.

You do not need to buy a Texelvignet, but you do need a valid parking permit. Otherwise you may receive a parking fine.

The parking fine is € 78,80 (in 2025). In addition, you also pay the hourly rate for parking (€ 5,00).

Then wait a little longer before buying a Texelvignet. Changing a number plate (page in Dutch) costs € 13.70 and is not possible in every situation.
